Casa Lavanda has noble origins that can be still seen in the carved stone archways, niches and walls surrounding the villa. This stone farmhouse was thoughtfully renovated, preserving its antique charm and equipping it with all comforts. Lavanda boasts a lovely rose garden, cypresses, cedars, olive trees and fruit orchards, lawns and rustic garden on the upper terrace where the pool is located. The house offers a wonderful view of Cortona and the surrounding countryside. The charming furniture reflects the owner's very personal and tasteful style, which combines her English background with the local Italian style giving birth to an elegant and cheerful atmosphere. Casa Lavanda is set back 150 meters from a local road which leads to Umbria, and the handsome stone walls enclosing the grounds offer total privacy. The lower garden has table and chairs for outdoor dining. Lavender, broom, and rosemary are found in the upper garden near the pool. Have a glass of "Bianco Vergine" – the local white wine of the Val di Chiana under the wisteria on the side terrace, while watching the sunset. Once a Ghibelline tower with four floors (16th c.), Casa Lavanda now has three floors. The ground floor has a large fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher and breakfast area, bathroom/laundry room, dining room, and living room featuring a stone fireplace and French doors opening onto the garden. The first floor has a double bedroom, a single bedroom with extra bed and a bathroom with tub. The upper floor has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom and a bathroom with a shower. The last bedroom has a double bed, size 1,40 mt. There is also a library with English books, where a CD player is available. Maria is available for housekeeping during the mornings, Monday through Friday. Guests are required to use Maria's maid service three hours per day at the local hourly rate. Maria is an excellent and creative cook of Tuscan specialties. She will prepare the evening meal upon request. Be sure to treat yourself to a few meals at home! If you love to cook, you may even want to have a few cooking lessons with Maria. Cook service is payable at the local hourly rate. Maria's husband, Cesare, looks after the pool and lawns. Guests will discover a very international atmosphere in nearby Cortona, where cultural and gastronomic events abound. Extras: final cleaning (€ 150,00), phone, heating. Extra bed: € 300,00 per week. Daily maid service: € 10 per hour.
