Description
Within close distance of the centre of Cortona, Villa Valerie is a wonderful 500 year old Tuscan farmhouse, perched on a hill overlooking the Pergo valley, and rolling Tuscan hills with magnicent views.
It has a unique charm and a dreamlike atmosphere that embraces its guests.
It was always our dream to own a house in Tuscany and after looking for 2 years we finally found a home that has everything we could have wished for. The house for us is a great escape of peace and tranquility from our busy lives in London. We have lovingly restored the house over the last 5 years and have it finished to the high standard that we would expect for our home.
We spent many weekends scouring the antique markets in Arrezo and Cortona to furnish the house and have used all local specialists for the furniture, from Busatti to Lorenzini.
The main house has 3 bedrooms all finished to the highest standards , each with their own bathroom and each overlooking the green valley below.
In the main bedroom there is the original stone sink which is a lovely feature.
The pretty guest cottage has its own bedroom, bathroom and kitchen and is a great place for the kids to stay, near to the main house.
We have a beautiful private swimming pool and spacious sun deck large enough for 8 people to relax.T
The house has telephone, internet, wireless, computer with printer, Sky TV, Dishwasher, Freezer, Washing Machine, Tumble dryer, Cappucinno machine, bread maker, indoor and outdoor dinning tables and everything expected of a luxury villa.
The house is surrounded by 150 olive trees which give us our own Olive Oil production every Autumn, as well as Cherry trees and Apricot trees. If you time your stay for Autumn you may be able to pick the ripe fresh Figs from the 4 trees around the house !
The grounds have been greatly restored and landscaped and we have loved watching the house evolve back into the beautiful farmhouse it once was.
We feel like we are in another world when we are here. Private and hidden and yet close enough to go into Cortona, to sample the local restaurants, which all have great food, friendly atmosphere and are excellent value for money.
Florence is an hour away by car or train, Sienna 40 minutes away and you can take the train to Rome for a fun day out in the capital and still return in time for dinner in Cortona.
We have spent many happy weeks here with our family and friends, we are very proud of what we have achieved at Villa Valerie here and we hope you will enjoy living the dream too.
